Your roots are being attacked right now — and a little oxygen might save them. Hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) sounds like something from a first aid kit, not a nutrient reservoir. But at carefully controlled concentrations — typically 17 to 50 ppm — it releases oxygen directly into your root zone, actively suppressing Pythium and other water mould pathogens before they collapse your crop. Here is the counterintuitive part: a 2018 study in Scientia Horticulturae found that low-dose H2O2 treatments did not harm beneficial root function and actually improved dissolved oxygen levels in hydroponic systems — the opposite of what most growers assume. In Queensland's heat, root zone pathogens thrive. Water temperatures climb, oxygen drops, and Pythium explodes. A weekly H2O2 flush gives small commercial and home growers a chemical-free buffer against that warm-climate pressure.
